Paul yan. photography from an Asian perspective.
Thank you for dropping by. If you found yourself here, it means you have been invited to view my current portfolio composed mostly of client-centric and subject-specific images. Please feel free to browse around. It won't take up too much time, as this has been designed to be a minimalist-oriented page.
My full name is Jesus Paul C. Yan, named after the hospital where i was born. I picked up photography from my dad, as he was an avid amateur in his hey days. I got my first camera in 1984, did my first professional advertising gig for Pancake House in 1990, and i've been shooting pretty much ever since.
And just like lawyers, professional photographers in Manila rarely specialize, as we basically get a whole assortment of jobs; and we pretty much do not shy away from any work assignment. Lately, I've been getting my share of food shots versus fashion, which was what I used to get a lot of a decade ago. Not that there are less and less of fashion projects to go around nowadays, but it seems that there are a lot of young and new chefs opening up new restaurants who look for cutting edge or highly technically proficient fine art food photography nowadays.
As a Manila-based Asian perspective Advertising photographer, I look to the rest of Asia to keep abreast of Photographic trends and styles.
